Get the support you need without worrying about the financial burden. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, many of our online therapy sessions are covered by insurance.

    Here's how it works:

    • Check with your insurance provider: Contact your insurance carrier to confirm coverage details and any specific requirements for online therapy with an RCC.

    • We provide receipts: After each session, you'll receive an electronic receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

    • Convenient online portal: Our user-friendly platform makes accessing and managing your receipts simple.

    Additional Support:

    • Survivors of Trauma, Crime, and Car Accidents:

      • Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP): Victims of crime may be eligible for financial assistance from CVAP to cover therapy costs.

      • Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC): Individuals who experience trauma or injury in car accidents may qualify for ICBC coverage for therapy.

  • We Do Not Do Direct Billing

Here, at The Woods Counselling Co., we understand that seeking counselling can be an important step towards healing and personal growth. That's why we strive to make the process of insurance refunds as seamless as possible for our valued clients. When it comes to how you pay that's up to you and The Woods Counselling Co. has signed up to participate in several insurance plans that are listed on our website to make reimbursement as easy as possible. We have ensured that they know about us, our certification and BCACC number 19819 and that we are accepted by them.

However, these are your responsibility to look into and be reimbursed by as The Woods Counselling Co does not do direct billing as it goes against your ability to have confidentiality.

    Our Reasoning:

The reason we do not is because often insurance companies have the legal right as the payer to ask the company (us) what you are seeking treatment for and to request updates weekly. Again, we respect your right to confidentiality and don't want to give them weekly updates on your treatment and how you are progressing in it.

How Will You Get Reimbursed Them?

Insurance companies will reimburse you through the online portals or emails they provide, and we have made every effort to help where we can. We will be providing invoice/receipts on the same day as your sessions, and you can even find links to your insurance portals listed on our website (on our about page) to make it easier for you. Please note most insurance companies would require The Woods Counselling Co. to provide them with a clinical diagnosis and updates if direct billing is attempted. Sometimes, insurance companies can also add requests for additional clinical information such as our treatment plans, interventions used, how you responded or other clinical summaries about you.

  • While many insurance plans cover online therapy with an RCC like myself, some may not. We encourage you to reach out to your insurance provider directly to confirm if they offer coverage for online therapy with a Registered Clinical Counsellor and inquire about any specific requirements or limitations.
